Author: the Discursos editorial desk

Every text on Discursos.co carries the same byline: “By Discursos”. This page explains who is behind that byline and how the content you read is produced.

The “Discursos” byline

Discursos is not one person's pen name; it is the byline of the Discursos editorial desk — the site's own editorial team. We publish under a single byline because every text goes through the same drafting and review process. Responsibility for what is published belongs to the desk as a whole, not to an individual author.

What the desk does

The Discursos editorial desk writes every speech example from scratch, drafts the step-by-step guides that come with them, and prepares the analyses in the famous-speeches section. Before publishing, each example is read aloud to check that it sounds natural when delivered. The historical facts in the analyses are checked against the most widely reproduced versions of each text.

In our experience, the read-aloud pass catches what silent reading misses. Our rule of thumb is simple: a line that cannot be said in one breath — about 20 words or fewer is our working limit for a single sentence — gets rewritten before anything is published.

What the desk covers

The Discursos editorial desk maintains 18 guides and analyses in Spanish: 8 by occasion, 5 academic, 3 on famous speeches, the templates guide and the by-occasion index. The same 18 guides and analyses exist in English. Each guide combines an original example, an explanation of how it is built, and answers to the questions most often asked by people who have to speak in public.
